At the party
Topic: practice of basic conversation
Level: pre-intermediate (7th - 9th class)
Aims: practice of basic communication phrases
Tools: cards with characters
Procedure:
- At the beginning of the lesson a teacher ask student basic questions: Hello, how are you? What is your name? Where are you from? How old are you? Where are you from? What are your hobbies?
- The teacher explains students the procedure. Students should imagine being at the party full of very famous people. Each of them will get a card with her or his character. They will go around the classroom and meet new people. Their task is to ask the same questions as the teacher asked them before.
- After the end of the party students sit and the teacher ask questions: Who did you meet at the party? What do you know about the person? and since at the cards there are provided only first names, the teacher can also ask if they recognize the characters (increasing the general knowledge).
- The whole activity can be finished by writing about the character. For example students can find further information at home and then write CV about them.
